Ron Anthony

Ron Anthony (born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on December 16, 1933)〔(Jazz.com: Ron Anthony biography )〕 is a renowned American jazz musician. He is also a music teacher.
He studied guitar with Jerry Condorato becoming a musician. He was also the first teacher of Ron Affif his nephew. In 1955 I became a member of the ''7th Army Jazz Band'' in Stuttgart, Germany. He studied at Duquesne University majoring in string bass with a piano minor for a year and then moved to New York. In 1962 he joined the ''George Shearing Quintet'' for 2 years, rejoined the group also later in 1971 until 1975.
In 1965, he moved to Los Angeles where he started doing television and session work in addition to a lot of jazz club dates with various groups including his own group the ''Ron Anthony Quintette''. He also worked with Frank Sinatra from 1986 to 1995 playing live on Sinatra's album ''Duets'' I & II. Since then, he has been freelancing around the world with his own group the ''Ron Anthony Quintette'', teaching and recording albums.
